transforming trauma mentorship

Under the MindBody Centering Yoga umbrella, we offer three series of Transforming Trauma Wisdom Circle groups. We encourage everyone to attend as many series as possible in order to most deeply benefit from the cumulative effects of focused attention.

During these weeks together we learn researched practices from the traditions of Thich Nhat Hanh and mind-body meditations that have proven to be most effective in transforming trauma.

This work is designed for anyone suffering from depression, stress, anxiety, insomnia, discomfort with food, relationships, job, driving. This group has proven successful with resolving indicators of trauma, such as numbness, having trouble getting out of bed, waking up too early, not having emotions, overwhelm, feeling unseen.

You’ll discover specific techniques that break up our negative beliefs & self talk by discussing, sharing and working with releasing aspects of the habits that keep us stuck.

Self care & discussions on practical tips for effective change help target stagnant physical and mental tendencies that block our energy and inspiration.

Each week we get stronger and clearer physically, mentally, emotionally & energetically with::

simple stretching and restorative yoga

calming breathing

focused attention to build mental clarity

coming into the present moment as embodiment and feeling the body

understanding the qualities of real loving kindness

discussion about how nutrition creates happiness and energy

to grow positive self talk creative writing

home practice to not lose a sense of calm.

nina values the profound potential held in trauma, which has fueled her creative life as a yoga teacher, performance artist, dancer, writer, mother, restauranteur and teacher. Having navigated through her experience of learning and evolving from the violence of her family of origin, the events of evacuating her family from hurricane Katrina, and incurring TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) from a critical auto accident, Nina deeply appreciates the whole body as a thinking, feeling organism, whose conditions of imbalance can be shifted through the nourishment of gentle and consistent care. This approach has supported thousands of people who have been supported to trust their innate inclinations towards wellness.

Nina finds that many in pain have been treated by medicines to treat illness, yet, they have not been empowered to trust their ability to create and maintain their best health. She has been honored to guide her clients out of suffering from Depression, Anxiety, Abuse, Scoliosis, Panic Disorders, Chronic Fatigue, TBI, Chronic Pain, eating & relationship disorders, into lives of Grace.

MindBody Centering Yoga Therapy focuses on an individual's or family's established strengths in order to develop greater awareness and capacity.
